The year is winding down, the holidays are upon us, and here at Ka’ana we’re reminiscing about the fantastic adventures we’ve shared with our guests these past twelve months. We’re grateful for the countless memorable experiences, but we know we wouldn’t be where we are without our community behind us.
There’s no time like the holidays to give back to our community and neighbors, and anyone who knows our team knows we’re always looking for new ways to make a difference.
Recently, the Ka’ana family visited the Octavia Waight Center, which is a neighborhood home for 32 senior citizens. We collaborated with our local Rotaract chapter to host a charity dinner in honor of the center, its residents, and to help contribute to the upkeep of the facility.
But we wanted to do something more for the residents than just drop off a check! So, we brought all of our favorite baked goods, like carrot muffins, cakes, and juice and Rotaract brought cosmetics to pamper everyone with.
We spent the afternoon engaged in touching conversations, playing games, and pampering everyone with foot massages and spa treatments. We loved having this heart-warming opportunity to connect with the residents and seeing the joy and laughter on their faces. A special shout-out goes to Bella, Eddie, and Mustard for being such gracious hosts and sharing their residents’ time with us!
We don’t limit acts of service to one-off events because we like to practice giving back to our community all year round. Ka’ana has been involved with a local school for almost 5 years now and we’ve loved every minute of it. We started with a bathroom reconstruction project and, since then, have launched lots of new initiatives including an organic garden to promote healthy nutrition and an after-school sports program!
We’re also always encouraging our guests to help out with our our Pack for a Purpose program! From school supplies like pencils and notebooks to fun things like soccer equipment, anything and everything you have room for in your suitcase is appreciated. Think of it like saving space for bringing local treasures home, while also bringing happiness to the local children!
We always look forward to having extra hands to give back to our local community, and we invite you to help during your next stay with us. It’s such a rewarding feeling know we have made a difference to the lives of our friends and neighbors. We know Ka’ana wouldn’t be the same without it. Contact our team to see how you can get involved in the community on your next visit with us.
From our family to yours, a very happy holidays and good wishes for the new year!
