Our Mixologists Reveal Their Favorite Holiday Drinks

At Ka’ana we think pretty much every gorgeous day in paradise is a reason to celebrate.

We’re constantly challenging our talented mixologists to come up with new ways to toast to another day’s successful adventures, whether it’s a particularly spectacular sunset over Yaxha or a custom cocktail for the newlyweds in Villa Two.

Christmas nights at Ka'ana Belize

But the holidays give us even more reasons to come together over a glass (or three) of bubbly! We grabbed some of our favorite bartenders to ask them to give us some Belize-inspired recipes you can replicate at home – now that’s really something to celebrate!

• Lemon basil blueberry infused rum (or an alternative of your choice!)
• 8 fresh lemon basil leaves
• Blueberry juice
• Orange juice
• Splash of lime juice

Shaken, not stirred. We’re lucky to have fresh lemon basil picked right in our onsite gardens (we think the herbs add a special freshness to the drink), but fun fact: you can infuse rum with mint, ginger, pineapple, vanilla… pretty much anything your heart desires! Become your own mixologist.

• Cane juice rum
• 8–10 mint leaves
• Splash of lime juice
• Simple syrup
• Flavored juice
• Splash of sparkling water

Mojitos are native to the Caribbean and everyone loves them at a holiday party! We at Ka’ana enhance it drink with our own special variety of fruit flavors and we encourage you to do the same with your favorite fruits. Coconut, pineapple, lemon basil, or even mango habenero are some of our favorite ways to spice up a happy hour!

• Rum infused with green apple and fresh basil
• 2 culantro leaves
• 6 fresh lemon basil leaves
• Apple Juice
• Splash of Ginger Ale

This unique cocktail was inspired by Van Gogh’s Apple Vodka. And no, we didn’t spell cilantro wrong. Culantro is cilantro’s more potent cousin that’s very popular in the Caribbean. Ask at your local market if they carry it!
