Part of our mission at Ka’ana is to contribute to our community as often as possible, from holiday festivities for seniors to encouraging our guests to bring much needed school supplies for local children.
This summer we combined two of our great loves – helping animals and childhood education! We joined the Cayo Animal Welfare Society on a visit to a local school to read their new book, Rover and I, to the kids.
The book helps children empathize with stray dogs and educates them on how to find care for them. Then the class is led in a discussion about how the little puppy, Rover, must feel and how they would each try to find a way to help him.
In addition to providing copies of the book to each child, we brought juice & new school supplies along – much to everyone’s delight!
