We sat down with Josue to talk about what makes a romantic escape to Belize truly magical.
What's the most fun part of event planning?
As a proud Belizean and one of the team's Destination Specialist here at Ka'ana, I am honored when a bride & groom decide to tie the knot in Belize. As such, I enjoy every aspect of bringing their dream wedding to life! I especially love weddings at the nearby Maya City of Xunantunich, relishing as their faces light up at the sight that is El Castillo – the excitement and thrill of climbing to the very top, the awe and sense of fulfillment at having made the climb (even in 3-inch stilettos!) while their gazes sweep the expanse of greenery below.
What makes Belize & the Cayo District so unique for destination weddings & honeymoons?
Beaches and Maya Ruins, of course! Just imagine one of the many archaeological sites that dot the country or the Caribbean Sea as your backdrop… it's perfection.
Can you tell us about one of your most memorable events?
Actually, two recent weddings come to mind. The first, an intimate elopement at Xunantunich Maya Ruins, followed by a private dining experience complete with a sole pianist. The second, an onsite family affair topped with a steel pan ensemble.
What should guests expect when choosing Ka'ana for their wedding or honeymoon?
Guests can expect a seamless honeymoon and/or wedding. But don't take my word for it. Take it from newlyweds (and now close friends) Jason & Tanya Jones: "My only advice to anyone getting married through Ka'ana is to do what we did – let them work their magic and take their advice on what works and what doesn't – after all they're the experts!"
