Ka'ana and its team have always been passionate about the welfare of our local furry friends. From fostering dogs and cats to rescuing howler monkeys and aiding them back to health; our team will go to great lengths to protect these members of our community. So when we were approached by Kind Traveler, the first socially conscious "give and get" hotel booking platform, about joining their impressive roster of hotels it was a no brainer for us to say yes and to choose Cayo Animal Welfare Society (CAWS) as our charitable partner. Kind Traveler empowers travelers to not just book a hotel, but to be a force of good by having the booker additionally donate $10 or more to a charity that will benefit the health and wellness of individuals, animals and the environment nationally or within the area of the hotel they are staying in.
So when we were told to choose a charity of choice, CAWS was the first one we thought of. Their incredible mission to provide a better life for all the domestic animals of the Cayo district through education, health and maintenance is a testament to what Ka'ana and it's mission to protect our local furry friends is all about.
At Ka'ana our devoted General Manager, Wolfgang Brandl and his wife and Sr. Sales & Marketing Manager, Anoushka D. Brandl have made it their mission to foster local animals at their home on the resort's property by helping to nurture these animals while they await a loving home through the CAWS humane society. But their love for animals does not stop there. The property is home to 60+ chickens, two sheep (who recently both gave birth), two guard dogs, large iguanas that like to hang around the poolside, toucans, 30+ different kinds of birds and much more. The couple even has two of their very own dogs, Lobo and Kiara. It's one big happy family at Ka'ana and the staff and guests alike enjoy the company of these companions on site.
As seen in US Weekly, we even got the chance to host Hollywood actor from hit NBC TV show "This Is Us," Jon Huertas, in December through our Kind Traveler partnership. We were thrilled to be able to introduce Jon and his wife to some of our friends over at CAWS during their stay.
We are proud to be a part of the Kind Traveler Family and hope that you look at booking your next visit to Ka'ana through them to also give back to our community.
