How to Make the Perfect Summer Cocktail

One warm-weather favorite is the Open Market Swizzle, the perfect summer cocktail to wow friends at a cocktail party—or to enjoy solo with a beachy novel. The fabulously colored drink gets its purple hue from a beet reduction, which offers a refreshing earthiness to the flavor.
Here's how to make the Open Market Sizzle.
- 1 oz. lemon juice
- Pinch of lemon basil
- Pinch of basil
- .75 oz. beet reduction
- 1.5 oz. vodka of choice
- Sparkling water to taste
- Lime wheel, for garnish
- Add lemon juice, lemon basil and basil cocktail shaker
- Add beet reduction
- Add vodka
- Add scoop of ice, and shake well
- Strain into a glass, topping off with sparkling water
- Add fresh ice, and garnish with lime wheel and any extra lemon basil to serve
