At Ka'ana Resort, we believe in responsible travel. Sustainability and community engagement are core components of our philosophy, guiding our daily practices. We aim to transform luxury travel with our green initiatives, community outreach, and sustainable practices. For us, responsible travel not only includes social and environmental sustainability but also giving back to our local community. We are proud of our partnership with CREST (Center for Responsible Travel) and are honored to be featured in their new Tourism Impact Handbook on our partnership with *Kind Traveler. This partnership with CREST, along with our recent Outstanding Citizens award from the Belize Police Department has caused us to reflect on our various initiatives to give back to our communities.
Kind Traveler
Kind Traveler deservedly earned the title of the world's 1st socially conscious Give+Get hotel booking and education platform. This collaboration not only encourages tourists but also empowers them to make a positive impact on the local communities and environments they have the pleasure of visiting. Our resort was used as a top-tier model of how to successfully raise awareness for impact and responsible travel. It is our hope that this feature will generate further interest and support for our community work and allow us to expand beyond our local area of Western Belize.
Cayo Animal Welfare Society
Here at Ka'ana, we also partner with CAWS (Cayo Animal Welfare Society) where proceeds are directly allocated to ending animal suffering and homelessness while educating the community on animal kindness. CAWS is 100% volunteer-led and routinely conducts low-cost spay and neuter clinics within the Cayo District of Belize.

Community & Sustainability
Not only are we dedicated to our furry friends, but we live out our mission to be a
catalyst for change within our community through various partnerships. We are committed to keeping our country vibrant and beautiful with our various green initiatives. In 2019, we partnered with the beautiful Twin Towns (Santa Elena and San Ignacio) to donate 40 garbage bins to encourage community members and travelers to keep Belize clean!
We also believe in eating sustainably. Many of the dishes on our menu are supplemented with items from our onsite all-organic vegetable garden. Every dish in the Ka'ana kitchen is certified proving that we follow all standards to promote and educate our staff and guests about the consumption of sustainable seafood items.
Pack for a Purpose
This feature wouldn't be complete without the recognition of our long-standing commitment to Pack for a Purpose in support of school children (ages 4-13) at the nearby Holy Cross Primary School. This initiative provides our guests with an opportunity to join us in giving back, by using extra space available in their luggage to bring supplies for the school and make a difference in the life of the students.
Help us transform the way the world travels by participating in CREST's summer auction! Ka'ana and Itz'ana's package in the auction will support CREST's Responsible Recovery Fund. This year's auction will help spread the word among traveler's about travel business' that are reopening and various health/safety policies surrounding 2021 travel.
